Carpet
cleaning in San Diego. Most experts agree your carpet should be
professionally cleaned every 12 to 18 months. Your carpet does not have
to be cleaned as often as other types of flooring. Just vacuum
regularly. We know professional carpet cleaning extends the life of your
carpeting and helps to maintain better indoor air quality, reducing
allergies and illness. When proper cleaning methods are used the deep
down dirt will be removed from your carpet and will help insure your
carpet does not wear prematurely. |

Do-it-Yourself-Carpet-Cleaning-Damage
While the do-it-yourself approaches are
far less expensive, they are almost never as effective as professional
cleaning and involve a considerable amount of time and hard work.
Ideally your carpet should be professionally cleaned. Carpet damage is
always a risk when cleaning is done by a novice. The most common
mistakes made are over-shampooing and over-wetting. At San Diego Carpet
Care we use a powerful and sophisticated truck mounted system. It offers
excellent cleaning results and maximum water extraction. We also know
how to deal with specific challenges like heavily soiled traffic areas
and stains. |
| Different
types of carpet clean differently. Berber carpet and short cut pile
carpets clean up better than thick plush cut pile. That is simply a
fact. Polyester carpet breads down in the traffic lanes and “pools”
and will resist cleaning in that even small spots, that would be no
problem to clean, were they on nylon or olefin carpet, will remain
visible on polyester fibers.
Upholstery cleaning is hard to estimate over the phone due to the
thousands of fabrics and their density of weave, or lack thereof. Cotton
and other cellulosic fibers have to be cleaned with acids where nylon
and other synthetic fibers can easily be cleaned using alkaline
materials. For this reason we will try to give an estimate over the
phone but cannot be precise at all until seeing the material.

If you
want something to be wrong with carpet cleaning as a subject you won’t
have to try hard to find it. It is not carpet replacement it is carpet
cleaning. If a carpet is stained it is the person or animal who stained
the carpet that is at fault not the carpet cleaner that shows up three
years later. While we understand that “accidents happen” it is
common sense carpet should not be subjected to large quantities of food,
liquid, sugars, protein, starches, urine etc………Shouldn’t happen.
Period. That being said we are not performing rocket science. We use
machines that inject boiling hot water and chemicals or just water under
high pressure into the top of the carpet fibers and then sucks them out
of the carpet with an appropriate measurable amount of vacuum roughly
300 cubic feet per minute.
Spills larger than 5 inches in diameter will usually leave a residue
down below into the padding. This residue is sticky, so dirt sticks to
it. This is what causes an exact duplicate of a spill to “return”
after some weeks or months. The better the extractor and the hotter the
water temperature the better to emulsify these residues out of the
visible portion of the carpeting but there will always be a residue left
in the backing and padding with spots larger than 5 inches in diameter.
Sometimes carpet needs repeat cleanings to permanently clean this type
of large spill. Obviously the best solution is that this spill never
happen in the first place.
