If you want something to be wrong with carpet cleaning as a subject you won’t have to try hard to find it. It is not carpet replacement it is carpet cleaning. http://www.sandiegocarpetcleaning.com If a carpet is stained it is the person or animal who stained the carpet that is at fault not the carpet cleaner that shows up three years later. While we understand that “accidents happen” it is common sense carpet should not be subjected to large quantities of food, liquid, sugars, protein, starches, urine etc………Shouldn’t happen. Period. That being said we are not performing rocket science. We use machines that inject boiling hot water and chemicals or just water under high pressure into the top of the carpet fibers and then sucks them out of the carpet with an appropriate measurable amount of vacuum roughly 300 cubic feet per minute.
Spills larger than 5 inches in diameter will usually leave a residue down below into the padding. This residue is sticky, so dirt sticks to it. This is what causes an exact duplicate of a spill to “return” after some weeks or months. The better the extractor and the hotter the water temperature the better to emulsify these residues out of the visible portion of the carpeting but there will always be a residue left in the backing and padding with spots larger than 5 inches in diameter. Sometimes carpet needs repeat cleanings to permanently clean this type of large spill. Obviously the best solution is that this spill never happen in the first place.
Different types of carpet clean differently. Berber carpet and short cut pile carpets clean up better than thick plush cut pile. That is simply a fact. Polyester carpet breads down in the traffic lanes and “pools” and will resist cleaning in that even small spots, that would be no problem to clean, were they on nylon or olefin carpet, will remain visible on polyester fibers.
Upholstery cleaning is hard to estimate over the phone due to the thousands of fabrics and their density of weave, or lack thereof. Cotton and other celulostic fibres have to be cleaned with acids where nylon and other synthetic fibres can easily be cleaned using alkaline materials. For this reason we will try to give an estimate over the phone but cannot be precise at all until seeing the material.
